Background
Five years ago, several successful entrepreneurs were deeply
concerned that future generations would live in a world paralyzed by short-term
thinking and a shrinking commitment to a better future.
They built Gen Next, an exclusive membership organization and
platform for successful individuals to learn about and become engaged in the
most pressing issues facing future generations.
They regularly dialogued with hundreds of thought leaders, CEOs,
authors, political leaders, and the like. What we learned from them was, for
the first time in American history, our kids will inherit an education system
that is worse than it was for the generation prior; we’re making investment in
outdated interests; massive debt levels will cripple our kids’ future before
they get started; social attitudes are closer to entitlement than aspiration
and ambition (a dangerous trend for a free enterprise system); and the world is
violent, dangerous, and fiercely competitive.
Solutions are grouped into three categories of interrelated
issues—education, economic growth, and global security. Each issue must be and can be addressed
for long-term prosperity.
Unfortunately, the political process, though important, is often
too slow or incremental to meet the challenges. It does not have to be this way. A network of leaders with resources, access, and expertise
can tackle complex challenges through the course of learning about those
challenges and being given proper tools.

The Gen Next Foundation (GNF) is on a mission to create
opportunities and confront challenges facing future generations in the areas of global security, education, and economic opportunity. GNF draws on dynamic
and far reaching ideas, organizations, persons, expertise, and other
centers of influence to pursue the mission. In this new economy,
GNF embraces new thinking on unresolved problems, untested solutions, private
sector and entrepreneurial methodologies applied to generational
challenges, and unique hybrids of for profit and non-profit business models.
