Project Redes (pronounced RAY-jez) developed the Network Knowledge Project to help more favela residents attain a higher education by offering pre-University courses to young people who need help preparing for college entrance exams. The Network Knowledge Project will operate in Favela Maré, one of Rio de Janeiro’s most dangerous slums.

The program will provide college entrance exam courses for 50 students in Favela Maré each year. This program currently operates in 16 other Brazilian communities and has sent more than 1,000 students to college.
